If not all, then I believe most of us have been blindfolded before nor have had our eyes closed; we all pay the “land of nod” a visit, everyday. In essence, we all have a lucid sense of how blindness is like. Therefore, we have knowledge of how infeasible it is to be mobile without vision. Ego is consanguineous to blindness.
Ego is heavier than a cadaver in a coffin, yet we readily carry it everywhere we go. It has even been embedded in our souls and subconscious minds. How does a frivolous quality like ego, feasibly obtains a hold in our subconscious minds yet love nor spreading love is deemed repulsive to us? If you utilize your cognitive perspective nor your over analytical eye, you’d ascertain that ego also contributes in the rife segregation that engulfs our African communities.
Segregation, is the chief reason why Africans are economically disadvantaged, despite living in a democratic system for so many decades. Life is truly a paradox.
Ego is, actually one of the reasons why a preponderance of people are being deprived of their opportunity to learn new things nor to advance, in life. We live in a planet that is chiefly populated by species that depend on communication for progress, yet so many individuals eschew any opportunity that is presented to them to communicate, exchange knowledge, learn something new and progress. By saying “life is a paradox” I intend to elucidate the fact that we are in dire need of progress, yet stagnancy is deemed a querencia, by us. Our level of hypocrisy is beyond the top of Mount Everest.
If we would refer to history, we would ascertain that no great man nor the vaunted legends, have achieved their crescendo with the aid of ego…unless our idea of crescendo is stagnancy. As an African, I’ll offer a lucid exegesis of this concept. The public transportation department is solely dependent on Africans for profit. That’s an inextricable fact. Africans are the chief population who utilize public transport, and that’s where ego is rife. The fact that you depend on public transportation to get any destination of your choice, then it means you are nowhere near the upper class, which the chief population are the caucasians. Hence, Africans’ subconscious minds were programmed to devoutly believe that wealth and glory are intrinsic to caucasians. I believe that has helped you to obtain a lucid idea of how the subconscious mind of an African is continually programmed. For Africans, it is easier to abhor one another and offer genuine love to caucasians, let alone even worship them. It is simpler for Africans to steal from one another, yet be loyal securities of a Caucasian’s property, it is easier for Africans to send a black business owner to big sleep out of envy, but wake up every morning even when they don’t want to, in order to ensure the Caucasian business owner gets profit. Ego is one of the reasons why Africans treat each other with utter contempt at malls, queues nor any public spaces but would be readily receptive to a Caucasian’s smile, and even be the one to attempt to initiate a conversation with the master. Ego is blinding our nation, indeed.
The “you shall be addressed the way you are dressed” aphorism, is a kenspeckle coin of the realm in African nor black communities. Simple example, take a man who’s considered worst dressed and instruct him to go greet an African woman who’s considered pulchritudinous nor a fugitive within her vicinity, nor attempt to initiate a conversation with her…those who reside in African communities, already know the outcome that will accrue as a form of the woman's reaction towards this man. In most cases, the man will get no reply when he greets the woman nor be treated with utter contempt, as he attempts to initiate a conversation with the intention of developing rapport. Imagine, if the woman would be receptive; what would she learn from the man she treats with disdain owing to his physical appearance?
Ego is, simply overinflating one’s abilities nor image. It is the mentality of thinking you’re better than the person sitting next to you, your interlocutor nor the people who coexist in your vicinity.
Ego is a disease that bereaves Africa its vision.
