The hand - a tool or a weapon?


We often hear aphorisms, which I could say that they could also be deemed fallacious, which state “life is in your hands"; or, maybe, it could be their simplest exegesis of the concept nor the power of the mind through the most physical and feasibly attained idea, which is the hand(s). With the hand, you create; with the hand, you destroy. 

The world we live in, today, comprises man-made materials. Man-made things are ubiquitous in our communities. The way things are going, one would conclude that the devout objective of humans is to overshadow nature while being enormously oblivious to the irrefutable fact that they are also part of nature and they need nature more than their man-made things that, rather, kill than heal; which is utterly flabbergasting to ascertain that the hoi polloi vaunts artificial means more than nature. It is natural to be emotionally attached to what we create nor what we’ve created. 

The fact that we are deemed individuals, is what makes us all disparate. We think different, we have different perspectives, we have different perceptions, we have different preferences, etc. Even our purpose in life, is different. Other people use their hands as tools nor weapons, depending on their respective situations nor mindsets. We have people who are generous, who use their hands as a tool to provide for those who are engulfed by insufficiency; and also people who are greedy, who use their hands as weapons to bereave others to fulfil their sempiternal and colossal appetite for gain. 

The hand also symbolizes action, owing to the fact that our hands do the most work after our brains. Therefore, to use your hand is to use your mind; which are the quintessence of taking action. Regret, pleasure, guilt, are all emotions of taking, and not taking action. As humans, we all use our hands daily, nor our minds daily. Most of the time we are being controlled by our subconscious minds. We use our hands for different reasons which produce disparate impacts to various types of people around us. The reaction of our interlocutors nor fellows elucidate the impact that our actions have on the universe. 

Life impels us to use our hands every time. 

There’s never a time where the mind says “TGIF! Let me resort to being a loafer, because I’ve been doing so much work during the weekdays”. The mind is like time, in fact, it is dictated by time. Time is the master of everything. Before we act, life provides us time to think about the possible outcomes of our actions; and post acting, life offers us time to reflect on the actual outcome of our actions. Time and all our thoughts, actions, failures, successes and time are interdependent. We, the people, have been in utter oblivion of the formidable combination that the previously mentioned nexus is. 

As the people, we need to develop a common mentality of striving to make a positive difference within our communities nor our environments. We must make it incumbent upon ourselves to use our hands, collaboratively nor collectively, to create a legacy that we will look back on and not only be proud, but to also save the next generation time, in order for them to use their time to further develop nor provide innovative progress within our society. Hence, the famous bible verse turned aphorism “you shall reap what you sow". Your future is dictated by how you use your hands today. 

Your current actions determine your future. 

Therefore, before we become engulfed by ego, self-consciousness, greed, let us consider the impact of our actions before we actualize them. Long-term mentality, is the word that best fits. 

Let us use our hands as weapons of eradicating poverty, hate, misunderstanding, and all the despicable things that are being normalized which are blocking progress in our communities; and use them as tools to perpetuate love, knowledge, understanding and progress for the future generations to find the world a better place than what it currently is.

The objects of fear

The great Bantu Biko , once said that fear is an important determinant in South African politics. In fact, that’s what all governments use to contain the civilians. Fear, is not the power that one attains, but the power that he is given by the ones who fear him.  Allow me, to quote the legendary Biko: “It is a fear so basic in the considered actions of black people as to make it impossible for them to behave like people---let alone free people.” “One must not underestimate the deeply imbedded fear of the black man so prevalent in white society. Resurrection

Christians would think of Jesus, first, when this word is being mentioned. According to Merriam Webster dictionary, it is the rising again of all the human dead before the final judgment; or the state of one risen from the dead. It is, simply, about revival nor the process of renewal. In Christianity, Jesus Christ was crucified and resurrected on the third day. In the African culture, resurrection comprises a nexus with ancestors nor the ones who are considered deceased or late, on earth, like Christ. We may find resurrection being elucidated in a variety of ways from disparate perspectives and, mostly from religious perspectives. In the ancient Greek religion, there are many instances where the concept of resurrection gains enormous relevance. Memnon, who was killed by Achilles, was resurrected.  Achilles, after being killed, was resurrected by his mother, Thetis. Asclepius, was resurrected and altered into a more colossal deity, subsequent to being killed by Zeus....

Not free as a bird.

Perception of reality is, often deemed realer than reality itself. "I want to be as free as a bird." a cliché that feels new, everytime it's being uttered or when our auditory tools cross paths with this ancient, yet immortal utterance. "The other side of the grass looks greener" another famous aphorism, but I prefer Marc and Angel's quote "If the grass looks greener on the other side, it might be life reminding you to water the grass you're standing on." Who came up with this idea that birds are free? Or, maybe an idealist looked at how birds look stress-free and he thought to himself that they're even able to effortlessly flee from their problems, without realizing that the bird has their own adversities. Imagine being a bird and you haven't been finding any worms to feed your offspring, and if you do you have to battle other birds you cross paths with on your way back to the nest, and you still have to stress about eagles who ...
