Death, according to many, is a dreadful event; especially for the living. We’ve all read all kinds of poems from disparate poets who express their enormous abhorrence for death. The irrefutable and inextricable fact is that whether we love it or abhor it; death, remains an inevitable event of life. Unlike birth; not all are born into this world but all that live in this world will, inevitably die. Sad but utterly true.
We often hear of a phrase nor aphorism, or even a belief, that a cat has 9 lives. Most would often use that to metaphorically refer to its abilities to cheat death. Most of us even wish to be like cats or possess the abilities of having multiple lives.
What if we die more than 9 times, but we’re in utter oblivion?
We often hear an aphorism, the legendary Tupac Shakur made it famous, which is “A coward dies a thousand deaths…" This, simply, means that you die every time you allow fear to impel you to eschew attaining what you direly desire. So, in essence, not taking chances or risks, is consanguineous to dying or death. A part of you dies, each time you don’t take a chance, every time you choose to keep your undying love for the woman of your dreams, to yourself, every time you second guess yourself, every time you tell your subconscious mind that you can’t do it, you’re not fit enough, you’re not good enough, and all the time we listen to the “naysayer” voice within ourselves. When a person dies, they get buried. Therefore, whenever you let fear enmesh you, others will bury you with their excessive confidence and self-esteem, or their lack of fear to take action.
Imagine how many times we’ve left words unsaid, feelings not expressed, chances not taken?
If you delve deeper into your pool of thoughts, you’d ascertain that we have more lives than a cat. Death is the end of suffering for the deceased’s physical body; for the live ones, it is a suffering, a bereavement.
Therefore, when you don’t take chances you kill your potential and you also have to be the one who has to suffer the bereavement; how painful? “A hero dies once…” they say, I concur. A person who won’t take a gunman’s orders due to the lack of fear of the muzzle, will only die once due to taking the bullet from the ornery gunman; however, the one who still wishes to see tomorrow, despite being in front of the muzzle, in the present, will obey the gunman’s rules and be a chattel for the whole period of being held hostage.
The world comprise ubiquitous pessimists, hence, they often discourage us to believe in dreams and attempt to alter them into a reality. We should all understand that the chimerical world is, actually not an impossible world. Once we obtain that understanding, then we’ll be able to defy the norms of reality in order to attain what others may deem impossible, but it will be possible to the beholder of the vision.
Take action; eschew death.
